Purpose
Some forwards don't like chasing, this can be exploited by players running from the full-back line to provide options for a marking half-back.

  • Step 1

    Starting on the back flank, (A) simulates taking an intercepting mark at centre half back, then backpedals off the mark (as if covered), looking upfield for options

  • Step 2

    Hearing a call from (B) who has run off their forward, (A) handballs wide to (B)

  • Step 3

    (B) handballs further afield to (C), who then fires a handball infield to (D) who is running past at speed
    (B) and (C) should use instructive voice to tell (D) they are clear

  • Step 4

    (D) runs, bounces, steadies and kicks long towards true centre half forward

  • Step 5

    (E) cuts across and takes a relieving mark. The drill is then mirrored up the other side of the ground.
